The City of Nottingham has been designated a Warm Zone. The Nottingham Warm Zone is a City wide home insulation programme for home owners and private tenants, starting in 2008 and running through to 2011. It offers:

FREE HOME INSULATION - If you are a home owner or private tenat over 65 or in receipt of benefits.

£49 HOME INSULATION - If you are a home owner not in receipt of benefits you can insulate your property with cavity wall and loft insulation at £49 per measure.

£99 HOME INSULATION - If you are a Private Landlord you can insulate your property with cavity wall and loft insulation at £99 per measure and claim back 100% of all costs through tax rebates.

LANDLORDS ENERGY SAVING ALLOWANCE (LESA)

Landlords wishing to make energy saving improvements to their properties either before or after obtaining an EPC are offered some help from the Government. The Landlord's Energy SAving Allowance covers loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, solid wall insulation, draught proofing, hot water system insulation and floor insulation.

Expenditure on these items are treated as a tax deductable expense. The LESA allows up to £1,500 per property spend on such items as a straight deduction from rental profits. Further details at www.hmrc.gov.uk and search LESA.
